Allow unknown sources and reveal Developer Options in seconds

Before you can install IPTV apps like IBO Player Pro or IPTV Smarters on your Fire Stick, you need to allow apps from unknown sources. On newer Fire Sticks the Developer Options menu is hidden by default — here is how to enable both, step by step.

How to Show Developer Options on Fire Stick

If you do not see Developer Options in your settings, here is how to make it appear:

  1. Open Settings

From the Fire Stick home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon) and select My Fire TV (or "Device & Software" on some models).

  2. Select About

Open the About menu, then highlight your device name (for example "Fire TV Stick").

  3. Click 7 times

Press the select button on your remote 7 times in a row on the device name. A message will appear saying "You are now a developer". Developer Options will now show in the menu.

How to Allow Apps From Unknown Sources

Now that Developer Options is visible, enable third-party installs:

  1. Open Developer Options

Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options.

  2. Turn on unknown sources

Select Apps from Unknown Sources (or "Install unknown apps") and switch it ON. On newer devices, enable it specifically for the Downloader app.

  3. Confirm

A warning appears — select Turn On. That is it; you can now install IPTV apps.

🔒 Is this safe? Yes. Allowing unknown sources simply lets you install apps that are not in the Amazon store, such as IPTV players. You can switch it off again afterwards if you prefer.

Quick recap

  • Settings → My Fire TV → About → click device name 7 times
  • Developer Options now appears
  • Open it and turn on Apps from Unknown Sources
  • Enable it for the Downloader app
  • You are ready to install IPTV apps

Next step: install IBO Player Pro on your Fire Stick.

The most common reason is that apps from unknown sources are disabled. Enable it in Developer Options, ideally for the Downloader app specifically, then try again.
